Innovation at its Best

The United States has been taken over by cell phones. People of all ages carry them, from children to the elderly. Providing access to the mobile web, email, and many other applications, the Smartphone is the chief among these. With the increase in productivity caused by being constantly in connection to important information, the Smartphone may be the greatest technological innovation of the 21st Century, re-defining how we as Americans live and work. But this importance has created intense competition among smartphone manufacturers, with a multitude of companies battling for supremacy in the industry. The leaders among these are Blackberry, Apple, Nokia, Samsung, Motarola, and HTC, who fight ruthlessly for market share and loyalty among users. This blog will allow you to get up to speed on how these Smartphone Manufacturers stand in the market, their flagship products, as well as how to use valuable internet resources to keep up to date with the industry.

How to use this site

There are a few major parts to this blog. First and foremost as you are trying to get up to speed on the industry, start by reading the Industry Overview. While this page is long, it will give you an good look at the major players in each part of the industry (manufacturers, carriers and software providers). Follow that up by making sure you are familiar with the Getting Started information, which contains the sites and vocab that I think you should know. Then you can check out the main emphasis of this site, the Smartphone Manufacturers themselves in the links on the left side of the page. Once you have finished all this reading, you should be up to date on how the many parts of the industry interact with each other. From there, browse through the Events Dropdown Menu and my Shared RSS feeds to get an idea about the big stories going on in the industry. Lastly, read through my evaluations of the many sites and resources I used to follow the industry, so you can continue to stay up to date with one of the most exciting and hotly contested industry in our economy!
